What do you get when you combine fluffy dogs, a comfy couch, charity, and dog-lovers? You get: Doodle Cuddles! Did you know that having a dog, or being around dogs, can benefit your physical and mental health? Dog owners “exhibit decreased blood pressure, cholesterol and triglyceride levels,” which helps your heart (source: Animal Planet)! Dogs “boost your overall mood and even bring you feelings of joy and happiness” (ibid). What better way to de-stress than to cuddle with some adorable dogs, all for charity?
Our first-ever #DoodleCuddles event was hosted by CB2 in Manhattan, featuring dog’lebrities @samsonthedood and @hudsonthegoldendoodle. What a success! We asked for $5 per photo with the Doodles, and were able to raise $300, which all goes to our nonprofit organization. Photos by Chantal Adair @thedogstyler. You’re going to melt from seeing the fuzzy cuteness at this event.
We didn’t stop there; three adoptable dogs joined us, to join in the fun and meet potential adopters! Kermit the young terrier mix from Animal Haven, Mimi the senior Poodle from PupStarz, and Meatball from Animal Lighthouse. Kermit got two adoption applications on the spot, and Mimi and Meatball had lots of interest due to their super-chill sweet gentle personalities. Little Miss Meatball was adopted the next day! Each dog got to pose for photos with the Doodles and fans, making tons of friends.
Thanks to all the people who came to our event for photos with the Doodles, to support our cause. CB2 generously offered customers a discount on purchases, if they took a photo with the dogs and donated! Huge thanks to CB2 for making this event possible, to Hudson and Samson (and their humans!) for being so cuddly, photographer Chantal Adair, Ali Brasky (our in-house news reporter), maison de pawZ (locally homemade dog treats), and to our little adoptable doggy friends.
Can we do this EVERY week?
