Meet Archer the Huggable Lab Mix
Looking for an adopter. 5 years old, about 55 lbs (on a weight loss program). Lab Mix. Good with dogs, cats, and older kids! Scroll to bottom of this post for contact info.
From his foster mom: Archer is approximately a 5 year old lab mix. He was adopted out of RockCityRescue organization to a family in CT three years ago. Unfortunately, Archer’s owners had to give him up for their own personal reasons. We offered to foster Archer on behalf of the rescue instead of sending him back all the way to Arkansas or worse, a pound. As soon as we got him, we took Archer to our vet, got him fully checked out medically and brought all his shots up to date.
We have had him for over 4 weeks now. Archer is a dog owner’s dream! He is house-trained, crate-trained and knows all basic commands – sit / stay / go to bed / down / come here! Archer is very smart and can pick up more commands easily!
Archer is having the time of his life playing with and running after my lab mix and getting pampered by my tween kid. So he is great with dogs and kids! His previous foster from a few years ago had a cat and he was good with it too. Archer LOVES squeaky toys, treats of all sorts and is very much a lap dog. He will turn around anytime for a good belly rub, and will return the favor with tons of hugging! He is the perfect companion on car rides and thoroughly enjoys travel and feeling the breeze. Archer loves going on walks too and gets all excited when he sees his leash! He has a really quirky bark that starts small and low, and grows loud and big depending on what he is barking at 🙂 Archer is possessive of his toys and treats. He is also on the heavier side (we are working on slimming him down). I wouldn’t let him be unmonitored around younger kids and babies.
Archer has been doing great in all respects since day one. No sleepless nights or bathroom accidents or eating troubles. He fit in right away, and just asks to be loved / cared for.
LOVES – playing with squeaky toys, walks, car rides, all types of treats, company of other dogs, to be cuddle buddy for his humans and to hug! DOES NOT LIKE – to share and give toys but is okay to barter them for treats, to run too much. TRAINED – house, crate and basic commands (sit, stay, shake, down, go to bed, come here) NEEDS TRAINING – to not snatch treats and toys. He makes contact with teeth, and that could hurt, especially little kids.
