Operation Foster Bound: Meet BEAR

EXCITING ADOPTION NEWS: 12/2016: ADOPTED by his foster parents – Read his update here.

EXCITING FOSTER NEWS 4/26/16: Bear found a foster home, starting early-May! We’re sending him a harness, collar, Kong toy, blanket, Den bed, Rams treats, and more. We can’t wait for foster updates, and to connect him with a trainer to help work on his obedience and adoption-readiness.

Bear is a very handsome big smiley guy who is looking for a foster home or adopter. Look at that awesome black tongue! Bear is part of our Operation Foster Bound program, in which he’ll receive free professional training sessions, a luxurious dog bed, lots of foster supplies, and of course tons of love and support. All he needs is a foster home! That’s the missing link. He’s located at Sean Casey Animal Rescue in Brooklyn, where he’s waiting every day in a cage for someone to bring him home.

BEAR

Bear is two years old and 80 lbs. Foster Dogs performed a DNA test, to get a better idea of who Bear is! Turns out, he’s a Chow/Schnauzer: a “Chowzer!” Mix. We went to visit Bear at the shelter with photographer Robert Stoetzel from Dog & Co., who got these glamour shots in order to help Bear get adopted. How can you say no to bringing home this gentle giant? He even has a precious custom cartoon drawn by Adopt-a-Doodle.

Bear is a fun-loving dude, who loves to play and wrestle and have a good time. He’s good with older kids (he’s strong, so small kids aren’t the best fit), and can’t live with other pets at this time. This big boy was rescued from a kill shelter down South, which makes him a true Southern gentleman. Bear is a total mush and complete love bug. See his video here, among his two other Operation Foster Bound buddies at Sean Casey Animal Rescue.

Bear knows his basic commands and he is very strong and would be best suited with an experienced dog owner. When passing other dogs on the street, he should be kept at a distance, but with professional training this can be improved!

Bear

Bear knows how to sit on command, and would love to learn other commands. He’s housetrained, and will love many walks with you! Bear is neutered, dewormed, treated to prevent fleas & ticks and is up to date with vaccinations.
