Four puppies adopted within a few weeks! What a month October was, for our precious little (big!) puppies.
In late-August, Foster Dogs worked with two rescue partners in our network: BARRK LI & Louie’s Legacy Animal Rescue on a special project. We transferred in two pairs of puppies into our organization for some exciting programs (to be revealed at a later date), and once those events were complete, our babies were finally available for adoption.
Named for Aussie children’s show “Bluey” about two Blue Heller pups and their family, siblings Bingo & Bluey were rescued by BARRK LI. They came from a shelter in Georgia, where they were on the list for euthanasia. They both entered foster care in the greater NYC-area, Bingo with two other dogs, and Bluey with a toddler by her side. Both dogs thrived in their foster environments, and then moved on to one more foster home before adoption: Bingo, with illustrator @iamlaurael and Bluey with the famous “Puppy Bowl” Referee Dan Schachner.
We submitted their DNA to Wisdom Panel, and found out that they are a wonderful hybrid of: Staffordshire Terrier, Doberman Pinscher, Labrador Retriever, and Siberian Husky. Quite a cool combo of loyalty, smarts, athleticism, beauty, and friendliness!
Bingo is now home with newlyweds Razak and Martha, and their dog Macey Gray. Macey was adopted three years ago from Muddy Paws Rescue, and this family felt it was time to bring in a new buddy.
Bluey now named Winnie, moved in with her new mom Marissa and mom’s bff Jade - and is loving life! A long-time fan of Hocus Pocus, Marissa brought her new pup home in time for Halloween - in honor of Winifred from the movie. Winnie’s beautiful heterochromia makes her a real show-stopper.
Our “Muppets” puppies Fozzie and sister Camilla the Chicken came to us through our friends at Louie’s Legacy Animal Rescue. Their Norwegian Elkhound mama raised her babies in foster care, and then Foster Dogs brought two of the littermates into our foster program. We're so grateful to Louie's Legacy for saving this family!
After a brief stay with volunteer Nancy, Fozzie got to enjoy foster life in Brooklyn with @therottenhounds and now spreads his big bear paws out in Albany with mom Meghan and new sister Tonks.
Meghan says, "Fozzie is such a happy go lucky ball of fluff! I really wanted a playful, active dog to be a companion to my current dog Tonks. Tonks is opinionated and Fozzie is so happy following her lead and sniffing everything she wants to sniff. They're already having a great time exploring together!" Follow Fozzie at @tonks_and_fozzie
Camilla (now Azula) now lives with Zak and his family, including Clancy the Yellow Lab! They were looking on Pet Finder for an Elkhound when they came arcross our beautiful girl. The rest was history! We are so excited for Camilla to have a big brother and lots of grass to play and dig! Follow Azula at @thereisnodanaonlyzula
We couldn't be happier with each of these happy endings and can't wait to follow our pups as they grow!
