Our tenth year strutting was surely the most unique one yet, and gave us so much hope for the future of animal welfare. Thanks to our team donors and 64 team participants, $41,335 was raised for Foster Dogs, Inc. through Best Friends Animal Society's Strut Your Mutt.
That's 103% of our goal of $40,000, and is 206% of our earlier goal of $20,000. Incredible! We also were the tenth-highest fundraising team in the nation.
Last year, in 2019, our amazing team raised nearly $32,000 so we are quite proud of the impact we’re able to make this holiday season and in the year to come.
Earlier this year, at the start of COVID-19, all in-person Strut Your Mutt national events were cancelled. Typically, huge walk-a-thons with thousands of people and dogs gather in several cities across America, to strut with their mutts. This year, Saturday October 24th was deemed Strut Your Mutt Day, where rescue partners were able to organize small in-person events, or participate in virtual events that day (including pig yoga and dog training tips).
While this is technically a fundraiser event, it’s also a celebration of happiness and a love for animals. We always look forward to this community-centric event every year, and our community has only grown since we started Foster Dogs an entire eleven years ago in NYC.
Now, while we Strut together in NYC in 2020, we also get to Strut with with six other cities, throughout North America! On “Strut Your Mutt Day,” Foster Dogs held an NYC pack walk in Prospect Park, Brooklyn - along with six other mini pack walks happening around North America: Los Angeles, Nashville, Toronto, Seattle, Vancouver, and Alabama. What a thrill to celebrate months of fundraising and hard work, and to end with a celebration both in-person and virtual good vibes!
The national totals, from Best Friends Animal Society:
276 Network Partner teams participated
$1.5 Million was raised, to save the animals
Nearly 3,000 registrants for Strut Your Mutt
275,000 participants in ResQWalk, as well as online events
Joining our NYC walk were several pups who had found their adopters and fosters through Foster Dogs, including Charlie, Simcoe, Matilda, and more.
We've raised a total of over $140,000 combined in the last five years, and we couldn't have done this without our team participants, donors, corporate partners, and of course Best Friends Animal Society. Thank you for making this year's Strut possible during these unusual times.
Fall weather, happy pups, and a job well done alongside Best Friends Animal Society. You all have raised over $41,000. We are so grateful for the best team in the world. Fostering is the future, thank you for making that a reality.
